Frig Tier Lists, How Placid is Doing, a Good Time to Start an Allinace, BRAWWWWLAGEDDONS! and Capital Brawls in Nennamaila

Gorski's Frig Tier list:

So this week Gorski Car released a small gang tier list for frigates. Now, I was actually thinking of making my own one of these but I guess now there isnt much point. Although, this does make my life easier, because now instead of making my own original content, I can talk about how bad other people's are.

Now, I actually agree with Gorski's list mostly, he clearly has the strong and weak ships in the right places, which you would expect from someone who knows what they're talking about, but there a couple things that I feel aren't right.

T1 Frigs:

For T1 frigs I completely agree, so not much to talk about there.

Faction Frigs:

For faction I have more of a problem. Personally if I were doing a tier list, I would of separated navy from pirate, as while they're both faction and technically the same class the price and ship bonuses are just so different I consider them to be different.

Firstly I think the Garmur should join the Worm in the cancer tier section. The Garmur is basically a big fuck you to everything that isn't a Garmur. Maybe it wont break you're tank, but the chances of actually loosing the thing is next to nothing. People who fly Garmurs tend to be the people who have Falcon alts, just in case. Besides forcing them to warp into a plex and catching them that way, you cant really kill one. Because of this, I feel they are cancer.

Secondly, Slicer and Hookbill are better than the Comet? The Comet is probably my favorite frigate to solo in. You can do so much with it and it all works so well. The reason I feel the comet is better than a Slicer is because an MWD fit blaster comet or an AB fit 150mm rail comet will destroy a kite or brawl (yes its a thing...you just don't have a point) Slicer. The Slicer can only really kite, limiting it a lot in the targets it can take when roaming and, lets face it, kiting is boring, BRAWWWWWWLING is where the fun is at ;)

As for the Hookbill, unless its got two webs and/or a TD its gonna have a hard time against a comet. Now, most of them do, but even with those modulus loading the right ammo and using the right maneuvering means you can still apply dps, and your drones will be applying all the same either way. The Hookbill has shit tank, so if you can get lucky against its fit and you know how to fly, taking them out can be hard but you will do it.

T2 Frigs:

T2 frigs all look good, apart from the Ishkur. I would class that was tier 1 as it has the same tank as the Enyo and while it has less dps, being a drone boat allows it to have a lot more utility in solo and small gang, while the enyo is limited by its blasters.

Support frigs:

Lastly, with support frigs, why the fuck are all ECM boats not in the cancer tier? Seriously Gorski fuck you and fuck your ECM hookbills.

The Current State of Placid and Why You Should Start Your Own Corp/Allinace:

Early this week Adversity., TISHU's main corp, joined NCDOT. This means the alliance TISHU is now dead.

With OE and TISHU both gone, this means that the only relevant entity left in Placid is SC. Now while I would imagine this is great for SC's SRP wallet with all those moons they have taken, It's not great for Placid its self. This is because there is a lack of active, PvP alliances in all sides of Placid right now, meaning that small gang content is basically non-existent and there is nothing to attract other forms of content creation to the area. For a very long time Placid has always been the quieter one out of its neighbors, but you still managed to find good fights if you looked in the right places, either that or a shiny fit ratter in a dead end system, but gangs always remained a rarity.

However, you can think of Placid as void of content, or you can think of it as a blank canvas. Seeing as there are little to none inhabitants in the low sec pipes, all the good home systems are up for grabs! Take Oulley (known to locals as where alliances go to die, but don't worry about that) for example. Its a low sec exit from Placid's trade hub, Orvolle and its only a stone's throw from Black Rise, allowing for gate camps (though any real PvP alliance doesn't gate camp right?) and easy roaming into active space, while where you live remains relatively quiet. One thing that I do find about Placid though is that when alliances leave, Russian cal mil seem to take over all the plex's and camp the pipes, however whenever met with any opposition they quickly scatter and as you become more prominent in the area you notice they start to show their faces less and less.

So anyway enough talking up Placid. My point is that given the current land scape of little competition but strong connections to active space, I personally think that if anyone is thinking of starting their own PvP corp or alliance, now and Placid is the time and place. I will at some point make a blog post detailing the do's and dont's (mostly dont's) of corp building and alliance running, but for now here are some basic tips if this article does in fact inspire anyone to go out and start something:

- Start with a trusted friend or two, if you have any, but its not necessary. A couple guys who you fly with from the start can help get the ball rolling, but either way, you will get there.

- Spam dat recruitment channel, have low standards, slowly raise them as you establish a stable member base. Be prepared to handhold if you really are starting at a member count of 1.

- Remember that for the first couple months at least, nothing is gonna happen until you, the CEO, log on and do something.

- Learn from your mistakes, be casual and don't let experience get in the way of what you want to do. I had only been in one low sec corp before I decided to start my own. From there I had formed an alliance that stood strong for many months. I mean, it was scrubbish, but we had fun, and we did stuff, while I still hadn't been playing for even a year.

Whats going on with me:

Joined Snuffed Out this week through one of the ex-OE corps. I'm hoping that once I get settled (I'm gonna take so fucking long moving, hate logistics..) I can start sending out small gang roams and then move onto cruiser gangs like I was in OE, as that seemed to be working out alright, so hopefully I will have lots of fun stories to share with you guys about my adventures in Snuffed Out. Either that or they disband in a month, because I seem to have that effect on alliances.

I also decided that I want to make another solo PvP video, much like this one.

However, this time around I want to fuck around with bigger ships, instead of mostly frigs. So, because of this, I have been messing around with solo BS fits and came up with a Armageddon fit which has worked amazingly for me. So amazingly, its going to be taking up the Solo fight of the week and the fit of the week. No, this is not me being lazy.

Fit of the week: BRAWWWWLAGEDDON!

So for this week we have some Battleship Solo PVP. I have been using this fit on stream and it has worked very well to get some fun fights and even hold its own.

Now, the main thing to decide when you're doing something like this is buffer or active. I was given advice for both sides but in the end decided to go with active tank. This is because not only do I find having to micro manage reps just more fun when fighting in general, but I feel you get more ehp out of your ship that way, unless you are being neuted. So the real question was whether to make the trade of covering the vulnerability from heavy neuting for less ehp by going buffer. I decided to take the chance.

Geckos are recommended for your drones, but if you're short on isk, normal heavies work fine, I would just recommend taking something with some speed to reach out to far away targets like Praetors or Berserkers.

The main target for this fit is small cruiser gangs, probably gate camps, pref without logi, though you can still take a gang with only one or two. When you have found a gang, you land wherever is closest to the main group, or if you can, get a warp in on their ewar/logi. From there, drop drones, take down ewar/logi if you can first, overload guns and pew pew pew. Make sure you apply your neuts to high prio  targets, as you can neut to around 35km (with my shit skills anyway) so if possible neut out logi then go for dps, or neut out other logi and then kill the non neuted logi.

This fit is quite tight, so max fitting skills are required (AWU V) but you wont need implants.

What fucks this fit over the most is easily ewar. Neuts are one thing, but if you really have to you can lock up whatever has you scrammed, pop cap booster, neut them and then MJD out. However, ECM basically means, like in every other fight ECM is involved, you have to sit there and quietly wait out your death. Either that or throw your keyboard across the room whatever works.

Solo Fight of the week:

Solo Battleship PvP is not dead, apparently. It was to my surprise this Friday that, while roaming the depths of Verge Vendor (region next to Placid) in my Geddon fit, I encountered a lone Raven! This made me a little (very) excited  and I proceeded to dive head first into combat.

The result was this juicy killmail:

As pointed out in this reddit thread, im annoying and self absorbed in this video, so er, sorry in advance I guess:

Another amazing adventure this Geddon went through was escaping the a gang...three times. It really was a blessing from the RNG gods I survived this gang. Both this and the Raven kill are really good starts in making footage for this solo PvP video.

Battle Report of the week:

https://beta.eve-kill.net/br/1796/

So this week we have a armour BS brawl with capital losses between Did He Say Jump and Gal Mil.

When I asked my top killboard watcher for any cool fights that have happened this week, he gave me this but apparently dosnt know much about the background behind the fight. Still though, I wanted to use this BR today because it's in Nennamaila, one of the coolest systems in Black Rise and has a nice little cap brawl without supers being dropped and stopping all the fun.

It seems like both sides had relatively kitchen sink BS fleets, but all staying under the same tank type and gun range. Did He Say Jump were horribly outnumbered in subcaps but even in caps. They lost three dreads and a carrier, but got three dreads off field and managed to take out a Gal Mil dread and a bumblebee with them, so it was by no means a one sided gank.

There were only a couple subcap kills, all on gal mil's side, but overall it seems Did He Say Jump came out on the loosing side here by about 5b.

Changes to T3Ds, RIP Confessor and Snuff getting dunked

Upcoming T3D Changes, nerf bat hitting hard

So CCP have said in the latest o7 show that they are going to be nerfing T3 Destroyers. Personally, this makes me very sad, but I know that its the right thing to do. Now, I don't fly the Svipul (I would say because I'm not a rusty degenerate but I know a lot of people that would piss off), so I will be mainly referring to the Confessor in this post, however the same things mostly apply to both ships.

How things are now:

Currently, Confessors and Svipuls (how do you say that?) can easily fit 10MN AB's as well as decent active tank and guns. This makes them amazing for low sec FW solo roaming. My preferred fit  for the Confessor while streaming atm is something along the lines of two deadspace armour reps, Fed Navy 10MN AB and pure tank, giving me 80%+ resists across the board in defense mode and still 250 dps cold with Multi loaded. In speed mode overheated, I can do around 4kms without any links or implants of any kind. It's fucking sexy all round. What I love most about this fit is that its superb at taking on small gangs that you find in Black Rise, and when then when the Russians come to blob you in Placid/Essence you can simply switch into speed mode, heat AB and moonwalk out of the place. Thats not to say the fit dosnt have its weaknesses. Firstly, a 10MN AB means that if you try to turn around with it on, you're gonna be there for a while, giving targets a lot of time to burn out of your scram range and MWD away while trying to pick off high priority targets like logi or ewar. Another big flaw is that anything with neuts will absolutely rape you. Even a pesky neuting Tristan can make it so that you cant turn your AB on to get out.

However, despite these flaws in the fit, you have to admit the Confessor is a little OP. I think the fact that I have gone two straight streams without loosing one confessor, when normally I will loose ships several minutes after undocking them, that says enough.

How things are changing:

So, how will the Confessor be nerfed? There are several changes, but CCP are going for the main thing that makes it so strong and unkillable in FW space, reducing the powergrid so it is much harder to fit a 10MN AB. Now, They are reducing the powergrid by 18 points on the Confessor, 19 on the Svipul, then reducing the CPU by 10 on both ships. My guess is that you will need to have at least two T2 powergrid rigs with AWU V and maybe even an implant to fit the 10MN AB after the nerf. This means the Confessor looses a lot of its actual tank, making it easier to break when brawling, which is another very strong point of the confessor. Or a 10MN may just not be viable to fit anymore. Now, like I have said, these changes make me said, because recently I have been having loads of fun with my Confessor, but I personally think that the ability to simply leave a fight whenever things look ugly and still have very strong tank and dps is a little much. I would think the Confessor will still have the ability to fit a 10MN AB, but at the expense of more tank. Whether this trade off be worth it or not we will have to wait and find out.

The speed and agility of the T3D's is also going to be reduced. Gorski Car posted a really useful google doc detailing the speed and agility changes for the Svipul and Confessor, so check that out for exact numbers:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U1IKWm3pkmnkFGbYXTuSksYaU1P0wK9QV5kDgFqG9Ec/htmlview?sle=true#gid=0

Lastly CCP will be removing two of the turret slots on both of the T3D's and giving them a +50% damage bonus. This overall makes no difference to dps, but will mean less powergrid and CPU is taken up.

I think these changes are less detrimental but are still going to be hurtful. With a 10MN AB overheated in speed mode, you can catch up to any cruiser and most frigs that aren't geared for speed, giving you loads of utility in small gang combat for tackle and stringing fleets out. The T3D's will still be able to do this, but it will require a better skilled pilot to pull off.

Overall I think this is a good move from CCP and will be a good balance for T3D's, but they also need to be careful not to make it useless. Right now T3D's have it all: Tank, Deeps and Speed, but by reducing the powergrid too much it will take them all away instead of one, as I would assume is intended. Lets hope CCP have a soft touch here, as I personally would hate to see one of my favorite solo ships made redundant. If that is the case, lets just hope the Hecate is even more OP than the Confessor is now! Hull tanking fuck yea!

Even if the Hecate does end up being OP, its still going to be ugly ;_;

What should you fit now:

I dont actually think the new changes are going to be changing your fittings dramatically. Apart from changing the prop mod to something 1MN, everything else should stay the same. For the confessor, dual rep pulse is still going to be a mean thing to brawl with, it just means you're a lot more open to blobs now.

I guess you can argue for or against using a 1MN AB from now on. Personally I dont really know yet. One of the main problems with a 10MN AB was that it could be difficult to stick to targets at close ranges because of your extremely long turning speed when it was on, but obviously the 1MN AB would allow you to stick to things a lot better provided you aren't duel webbed. However there is always the problem that comes with 1MN AB's that you can get easily kited. With sharpshooter mode and scorch ammo, you might be able to pick off that condor that has you pointed, but sometimes it wont be enough an and MWD would be needed to get off or catch a kiter.

Either way I'm looking forward to seeing how people will be fitting their T3D's from now on, we should see a bit more variation in how they are flown. It would be cool to hear all of your ideas on how they should be fit now, so leave a comment.

What I have been up to this week

So this section is meant to be about cool fights and roams I have had over the week, but due to the stuff with OE I havnt actually been up to much, so this week im going to dedicate this section to my poor Confessor who was tragically blobed on Friday's stream, as that seems to fit the T3D theme in this post. Next week I should have something more interesting to report to you all.

This Confessor has lasted me a long time and had got many kills, I had really formed a bond with it ;_;

I guess the only thing that can kill a T3D is another T3D. Here are some cool km's that I had got with it:

Confessor vs Corax + Thrasher + Merlin:
https://zkillboard.com/kill/46045180/

Confessor vs  Caracal + Thrasher + Incursus x2
https://zkillboard.com/kill/45918048/
https://zkillboard.com/kill/45918129/
https://zkillboard.com/kill/45918156/
https://zkillboard.com/kill/45918177/

Now granted both of these gangs were shit fit but was still fun just stomping them all with my OP tank and dps.

I also have a nice little duel web Astero for solo PvP now. Will be streaming with it tonight so check it out, will report any awesome kills I get with it.

Again, will have more to talk about here next time hopefully, but as I'm between alliances right now I only have solo PvP to go off. I would love to go into detail about how I FC'ed a cruiser fleet or something at some point, just so you have an idea of what I'm going for.
The worst part is, all the shiny loot dropped!

On another note I'm still in an NPC corp. I'm thinking I might end up joining Snuffed Out as one of their corps invited me and I have a couple friends who joined as well. Every time I change alliance, a corp called DBD RELOADED invites me to join them. I know most of them from when I started my first alliance. They flatter me but I just need a way to tell them I'm too 1337 for them in a polite way. They are all flilthy rich though so if I did join the would probably pay for all my solo PvP adventures.

Actually got the CEO to read this, his responce was as follows:

Vestion Stenier-Tian > give it a read I mention you guys and how scrubbish you are
Duke Vayne > do you actually?
Vestion Stenier-Tian > yes
Duke Vayne > WOAH
Duke Vayne > now hold on
Duke Vayne > i didnt offer to pay your sub this time
Vestion Stenier-Tian > 'this time'

If I dont join Snuff I will probably rejoin my own corp Icendus Corux as CEO, chill there for a bit and recruit friends/cool looking people, then maybe after my exams are over start some proper recruitment drives and roams ect. Still weighing up the pros and cons of both options. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Battle Report of the week

This section is going to be about some interesting fights that have been going on in gal/cal FW space between big alliances. I asked around for what something cool to post here and I got this:

https://zkillboard.com/related/30002813/201504150300/

So as you can probably tell the team separation here isn't great, there was a lot of third parting, but as I understand it here is a general overview of what happened:

At first it was a Snuffed Out T3 Armour fleet against a did He Say Jump Armour cruiser fleet of mainly Aug Navy's. Did He Say Jump grabbed an absolution and two guardians on Snuff while only loosing one VNI.

Then a little later a cal mil Moa fleet and a Shadow Cartel Gila fleet showed up to take on Snuff. Snuff blapped six Moa's but ended up losing three Proteus's and  three more Guardians to the Gila fleet. Shadow Cartel and Did He Say Jump came out of all of this with very minimal losses, while Snuff seems to have done got dunked. Triage was dropped but all of it got out safety.

Hopefully this is an accurate report of the fight, seeing as how I wanst actually there makes it slightly harder to get right, but I'm going off of what I was told and what the battle report says.

Overload Everything has dispanded

Now I intend to make this blog weekly with interesting alliance things being included in one post with other things. However, in some cases, such as this, deserves its own post as soon as it happens.

Wut just happened?

Overnight the alliance Overload Everything has gone from over 400 members to about 10. This is because its main corp, Collapsed Out, left the alliance and will be joining PL. All other corps quickly left the alliance as well. I was kicked from Collapsed Out for two reasons. One being I'm far too scrubby for PL (only 31sp, no caps) but someone who dosnt like me for reasons I will explain later in this post (its a funny story) but also happens to be a director told Doomchinchilla that I was live streaming fleet ops and showing intel channels with fleet timers in the motd. Now, this isnt true, I only ever streamed my own fleets and never opened the intel channel, but I suppose if I couldn't really join PL anyway, doom wouldn't of really cared enough to wonder if that was true or not.

PL and OE have always had a relationship of some kind - I often saw PL guys on ts, so I'm not really surprised this is where Collapsed Out have decided to go. After all they have something stupid like 20 supers to fuck around with.

How is this going to effect low sec?

I am going to be doing some speculation here, but nothing too far fetched. Now that one of the gal/cal FW space's main alliances has disbanded, this can mean several things for the whole space and the other relevant alliances there.

First off, all solo'ers rejoice, because Ostingele is now a great place to find fights again! Well, will  be once everyone moves out. Ostingele and its surrounding area of space has always had OE close by, but only recently has it actually has OE living in there. Its a great system because even without an alliance living there, there is lots of activity to find fights, so I recommend after a week or two all roamers, solo or small gang, set Ostingele back on their map if they removed it before.

Now, on an alliance level, this is good news for Shadow Cartel, as they are now pretty much the dominant alliance in Placid. They were beating OE before, but now they can just have even more moons! Oh wait, they already had all of OE's moons. Well, its the principle I guess. I mean, there is still TISHU chillin' in Placid but, well... its TISHU. PL is just going to be even more PL-ish now, but nothing no one isnt used to.

I am going to predict that now OE isnt around in Placid, SC might look for more fights with Snuffbox. They are a region apart, SC in Placid snuff in Black Rise, but I think if they decided to start going after eachother's territory some gf's could come out of it, as, apart from PL, they are the two biggest alliances in the area right now. Of course gal and cal mill will be thrown into the mix somewhere, maybe start stretching across Placid a bit more, but as always they are there for the gf's, so I wouldnt expect to see any great plans of conquest into Black Rise/Placid like I am kind of secretly hoping to come from snuff or SC. Although SC and snuff do have different TZ's of operation, and logistics to get to fights might be harder, I would like to think they will find a way to go against each other.

Where am I joining next?

I have no fucking idea. Halp plz.

Seriously though, I was invited by one of the other corps from OE that *might* be joining snuff, but I'm going to wait until they're actually in before I even consider it. Apart from that I might start up my own corp again, but idk if I have the time to invest it in with my exams coming up. Either way, I'm going to see what other offers come my way for a couple days.

I did actually have a lot of fun in OE, I wish I could of been their for their prime instead of towards the end. I picked up some things on FCing and like any alliance you join, I made some friends. The only person I didnt get on with was one of the directors called Propolis who FC'ed some ops and roams. He was the guy I am guessing told doom I was streaming fleets. The reason he dosnt like me is a story of 1337 master trolling.

Some funny stuff from my time in OE:

Prop was making a Svipul roam that I was considering on joining for the night. Until he linked the fit he wanted everyone to run. It was Shield recharge (with logi frigs) all over, T2 rigs and lows. 150mm AC's with scram+web. Now, this might of been ok-ish for solo PvP, but even then I would say there are better choices, but for small gang roaming with frig logi? I couldn't understand why it was a brawling fit with terrible ranged guns, scram+web and then shield tanked.

So anyway I post this fit in a channel with a couple friends so we can all bitch about it. One of my out of alliance friend asks for the name of this FC. I give it to him and then after he forwards me this mail he sent him.

So this obviously make Prop buttmad. He starts shouting in blues channel about how we have a leak/spy so I copy paste the results into the other channel. More emails are sent, prop gets more and mad, was a good laugh, we didn't take it any farther.

So anyways a couple days pass and then this friend who sent the mails tells me he has a leigion to drop on, needs some OE blosps to do the job. I bring him on comms so he can tell us whats happening and form a fleet. Prop comes into this fleet, sees a guy on comms with the same name that was messaging him and well, puts two and two together. He drags me down and shouts at me a bit, from there on hated me.

Now, I probably come off as being in the wrong here, I probably am (was all just banta I swear) but in all fairness this guy wasnt the best FC I have ever seen...he literally rage quit a fleet in which I lost my beloved Vindicator. He actually logged off because he died.

My first Vindi, was its first fight. Good night, sweet prince.

In this fight he made us bring blaster prot's to fight arty loki's. Now I can understand the thinking behind this, if it wasnt for the fact we had bought the exact same comp against the exact same people also in the exact same comp before and lost horribly, so when we fleet warp onto a cyno with 6 or so dreads coming out, its no surprise we get destroyed.

Anyway, I guess now I'm just bitching about this one guy for the hell of it, but I have wanted to say this for a couple weeks now, being kicked from OE means I finally can!

Like I said though, OE was fun, I will miss it, but now I can go onto to something else...just don't know what yet.

Make sure to check out the upcoming post this Sunday on the T3D nerfs!

What BRAWWWWWWLING is gonna be about.

Hello everybody, I am Kar Athri, a Low Sec PvP EVE streamer. My in game name is Vestion Stenier-Tian.

So, I want to make a blog. In fact I already did, as you can tell. This first post is going to be outline what this blog is going to be about, what I'm gonna talk about ect. However, first off I want to tell everyone a little bit about myself in eve.

As well as a pvp streamer, I am currently a member of the alliance Overload Everything and I am an aspiring FC there, taking out fleets to help drain out (currently empty) SRP wallet. I have been playing for almost two years, during of which all but one or two months has been spent on hardcore 1337 pvp and I have lived in Placid for the most part of that. I have made my own corp and built two alliances from the ground up with that corp, but currently the corp is in hibernation mode. I am a Gallente loyalist at heart with a burning passion for three things: blasters, drones and hull tanking. Its a personal goal of mine one day to live stream a drive-by in a hull tanked Erebus. One day.

So that's enough about me, lets go through about what this blog will have. I'm going to be making at least one blog post once a week every Sunday evening (UK time) so I can cover everything that has happened that week, and its at the end of the weekend so I would of just had a couple of EVE streams to talk about.

Solo PvP:

Firstly, being an avid solo pvper means I'm gonna bitch a lot about how solo pvp is dead, everyone blobs and life is impossible without a falcon alt. Seriously though, techniques, fits and general discussion will be something I do often. Should also have some juicy km's and videos to show off as well from my stream.

Small Gang/Fleet PvP:

Secondly, I will talk about FCing. I have a lot of experience in small gang FCing in FW space so I will be talking a lot about good gang compositions, ways to start FCing, what you need to know and so on. I am trying to improve my above frig/dessie skills as an FC in OE atm, as 15 man cruiser fleets with Guardian logi and toxic OE members judging you really are on another level from small frig gangs, so I will talk about that as well, posting some cool videos of fights we get while I'm FCing as well.

Gallente/Caldari FW Space:

Lastly, I will sometimes talk about the gallente/caldari warzone regions themselves. I have been living and roaming there pretty much all of my eve life, so I like to make speculations and discuss the state of that area of space - who are the relevant alliances, who roams where, who fights who and just in general, as far as I can tell, whats going on.

I'm really looking forward to this blog, hope you guys are too. For more of my stuff, check out my twitch, twitter and YouTube:
